The Car Adapter and Camera Frame communicate wirelessly, and that requires some power. Fortunately, we’ve designed RearVision to be super-efficient.
The Camera Frame is not connected your car battery - it is solar-charged and includes built-in solar panels. If sun exposure is limited, the Camera Frame can simply be removed and recharged with the built-in USB cable. The Pearl App proactively monitors the Camera Frame battery and sends alerts if the battery is running low.
The Car Adapter is powered through your car’s OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) port, and draws such a small amount of power that it doesn’t have any impact on your car battery. However if you are intending to store your vehicle for an extended period of time you should remove the Car Adapter to avoid draining your car’s battery. Note: There are multiple variables that impact battery performance and not all battery drainage issues will be caused exclusively by the installation and use of RearVision.
