How do I install RearVision on my Volkswagen Jetta (or other European car)?

We’re excited you chose RearVision for your Volkswagen® Jetta (or other European car) and can’t wait for you to use it.

  • These steps apply only to 2011 or later model years of Jettas.
  • This adapter can be used with other makes and models of cars. If your Camera Frame is fitting too tightly or blocking your trunk latch, you may require an adapter. Just contact us and we'll get you set up with the correct part.

Remove your rear license plate

Using a screwdriver, wrench or another appropriate tool, remove your license plate/license plate frame. Hold on to the screws, we'll use those in the next step.

Attach the License Plate Adapter for Pearl RearVision

Using your car's existing license plate screws, fasten the License Plate Adapter to your car.

If you didn't get a License Plate Adapter, contact us.

Prepare the RearVision Bracket

On the bottom of the Bracket, unscrew the rubber screws by hand (A).

Next, using the included Pearl Locking Tool as a driver, remove the two screw inserts from the Bracket frame (B).

Install the Bracket and license plate

Using the four screws that came fastened to the License Plate Adapter, attach your license plate and the RearVision Bracket together on your car, with the Bracket in front.

Secure the Camera Frame

Install the Camera Frame by inserting the bottom of the frame into the bottom lip of the Bracket and press it up into place so that the Camera Frame rests flush on the Bracket.

Using the Locking Tool, tightly fasten the security screw located in the middle of the Camera Frame, between the two cameras. Keep your Locking Tool somewhere safe and accessible in case you need to remove your Camera Frame.

Plug in the Car Adapter

Plug the Car Adapter into the OBD (on-board diagnostics) port that’s typically under the dash in most cars. Your car doesn't have to be running for this step. You should hear a chime when it’s properly connected.

  • The OBD port is on virtually every car built in the US after 1996. On most cars, it's under the driver's side dash.
  • Having trouble locating your OBD port? Download the Pearl App and tap on “Can’t find your car’s OBD port?”

Attach your Phone Mount

Choose the Phone Mount base that works best for you.

Vent Mount: It’s ready to go. Just clip the mount into your vent.

Dash Mount: First remove the attached vent clip, then attach the adhesive base to the Phone Mount and adhere it to your dash.

Tips:

  • Clean your dash with the included Cleaning Wipe before adhering the Dash Mount base.
  • For best results, let the adhesive cure for several hours before use.

Attach the Phone Plates to your phone

Affix the small Phone Plate to the back of your phone or phone case. Or, stick the larger Phone Plate under your case. Your phone will now magnetically mount for easy viewing.

Important Note: Charging your phone wirelessly may cause the Phone Plate to overheat and is not recommended. Please see this article for more information.

Tips:

  • Make sure your phone/phone case is clean before applying the Phone Plate.
  • Be sure to let the adhesive cure for a few minutes before use.
