Using Smart Parking Guidelines

Smart Parking Guidelines for RearVision intelligently examines the environment behind your car and then adjusts the length of your parking guidelines as you approach obstacles.

Note that RearVision’s obstacle alerts (both audible and visual) will continue to function normally alongside Guidelines.

To enable Guidelines within the Pearl app (note the feature is off by default):

  1. Launch Pearl on your phone, tap the center of the screen once, then tap the Settings icon.
  2. Select Guidelines to view this section of Settings.
  3. Enable Guidelines by toggling the switch ON.
  4. Launch Pearl and tap Settings to turn the feature on. Be sure you’re near your car and have a tape measure handy - when you enable this feature, the Pearl app will guide you through a quick setup to prepare the guidelines for your car.

Enabling and calibrating Guidelines for RearVision will help you better understand the width and trajectory of your car as you back up - it's perfect for parallel parking. Additionally, enabling the supplemental Obstacle Aware feature allows your parking guidelines to dynamically and intelligently adjust their size as you approach objects. With both of these options enabled, as you back up towards a wall, car, or other object, you’ll see on-screen guidelines that only appear leading up to those obstacles, and then adjust dynamically as you get closer.
